The Opinel French knife is one of the most widely used for all kinds of manual and outdoor or adventure tasks, given its cutting quality, easy grip and the locking system that prevents the blade from closing accidentally.
The blade traditionally used by Opinel is the Yatagán, inspired by a Turkish sabre in which the blade rises at the tip. This blade is made of very hard 12C27 Sandvik stainless steel (54-61 HRC) with a fine microstructure of carbides which gives it its high hardness, corrosion resistance and extreme sharpness.

The handle is made of beech wood from French forests. It is a strong and hard wood with shades ranging from pink to yellow crossed by a series of dark lines that give it greater showiness. To protect it from the passage of time and humidity, the handle is varnished.
Virobloc locking system invented by Marcel Opinel. This system consists of two parts, a fixed part that surrounds the time axis and a mobile part that is superimposed and allows the leaf to be locked and unlocked.
